You know what really grinds my gears?!?
Neighbors grind my gears! I spend countless hours on my yard. I make sure no trash is lying around, the grass is properly cut and manicured and even pay TruGreen to fertilize. I make sure noone can complain about my lawn.
Here it is...Saturday morning coffee on the back deck and I have to look at this?!? Do you care that your nasty, trash ridden backyard makes neighboring lawns look just as bad?! Get your act together or a phone call to the Property Manager is on its way!
This blog is devoted to random things that: Grind my Gears! Check back daily for a new posting.

Construction dysfunction
You know what really grinds my gears?!?
In light of spring/summer, I bring you a road construction issue that always grinds my gears! The picture you see below was taken during the winter, but nothing has changed.
This is probably the discussion right before this picture was taken: "Hey Rick, since you're the newby, get your ass down in the hole. We'll stand right here and walk you through this."
This is road construction at its finest. One guy working (who we can't see because they're 8 feet under the road) and 3 to 4 guys standing around not doing anything! Q: You know how much faster the work would be done if EVERYONE was working? A: 4 times faster, that's how fast!

Bookstore etiquette
You know what really grinds my gears?!?!
Picture this...You walk into a bookstore to find a book. You walk around aimlessly until you think you found the section. Then, you see this:

A book store is for finding and purchasing books, magazines, calendars, movies, compact discs, etc. The book store shouldn't be used as a library! If you want to read a book, buy it and go home. This is exactly why book stores are struggling to survive (and iPad, Kindle, Nook, etc). Do us all a favor, buy the book and LEAVE!!!!
What do you think?

Bathroom Etiquette #1
You know what really grinds my gears?!?
Walking into the bathroom just to see what someone else left behind. FLUSH THE TOILET! It's not that difficult. I don't care to see what came out of you. For the most part, I am not proud and neither should you be. Be courteous to the next person and flush it all away.
Due to the nature of this topic, a picture was not necessary. You want to eat later, right?

Fake chicken
You know what really grinds my gears?!?
Fake chicken found inside frozen meals. There's something rubbery and disgusting about this crap. I'm no dietitian, but there can't be anything "healthy" about this crap. Chicken that has been fried/baked, frozen and then shoved into a cardboard box ready for the microwave? Really?!?
Lean Cuisine, Healthy Choice, Tyson...You can keep your FAKE/processed chicken! I want the real thing!

Walmart at Night
You know what really grinds my gears?!?
Shopping for groceries at Wal-Mart at night! We were there at 10pm...not the wee hours of the morning. Here we go, thinking we're going after the rush. It can't be busy, right? WRONG! The store is swamped with Wal-Mart workers stocking the shelves. They place pallets after pallets in the aisles so you can't get what you're looking for. Then they act rude if you climb over them to grab a bottle of Heinz 57.
After FINALLY getting everything we needed, we felt relieved. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE....1 checkout open. Seriously?!? You got it, 1 checkout open with 30 people in line. This REALLY grinds my gears.
Lesson learned....go out of your way to go to Meijer.

Interstate + Moped = Disaster
You know what really grinds my gears?!?
Someone holding up rush hour traffic. Rush hour traffic is bad enough...we don't need someone to assist. Going north out of Indianapolis on I-69 is self torture. I highly recommend everyone avoid it at all cost. This specific day, I could not tell what was holding up traffic so bad, until I FINALLY maneuvered around a slow car. I found a slow car but the reason was much, much worse. A moped on the interstate is not only illegal, but extremely stupid. Keep your moped to side streets and country roads!!!!! What are your thoughts? Have you seen something similar? What have you seen that Grinds Your Gears during rush hour traffic?

Bathroom Manners
You know what really grinds my gears?!?
When you're roommate (you know who you are) disrespects you by NOT replacing the empty toilet paper! I understand sometimes one might be in a hurry. I understand sometimes there might not be a replacement readily available. BUT, this was not the case. There was plenty of TP under the sink. Common courtesy calls to replace the empty toilet paper roll. It's one of the only chores you can do while sitting down!!!!

Motorcycles + Kids = Bad News
You know what really grinds my gears?!?
Enjoying the beautiful weather outside on your motorcycle....with a kid strapped on to the back!!! As much as I love motorcycles, they are extremely dangerous. The motorcycles may not be the dangerous part, but I'd say you have a better chance of living if in a car accident in comparison to a motorcycle accident. So, my question is, why would you put an innocent child in danger?!? How would you feel if something would happen to that kid while you were on the motorcycle? Like I said, I love motorcycles, but this is completely ignorant. END OF STORY.
Also, I notice that this is my 2nd motorcycle post since starting the blog. So, this week will be devoted to motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles, etc. until I run out of ideas. Hope you enjoy.

Lazy Neighbors = Trash Week
You know what really grinds my gears?!?!
Lazy neighbors turn trash day into trash week. Trash day in our community is Tuesday morning. My weekly ritual is to take the trash to the curb on Monday night (circa midnight) and promptly return the trash can on Tuesday once I get home from work. This should be standard for any home. Leaving trashcans outside your house, at the curb or anywhere in sight makes everything look dumpy. TODAY'S FRIDAY.....TAKE YOUR TRASHCAN BACK TO THE GARAGE!!!!! Am I asking too much? Is this too harsh? What are your thoughts?

One way - wrong way
You know what really grinds my gears?!?
A complete disregard to road signs.
Now, I understand if it's 3:00am, there's no cars around AND you've been sitting there for 5 minutes. If it's during the day and in a crowded area....always follow the rules. It's permissible to bend the rules/laws but NOT completely break them (depending on circumstances, see above). In this case, Mr. Delivery Guy thought he was above the law. He also thought no one caught him in the act. This is one of the busiest streets downtown Indianapolis. The driver's disregard for following rules is inexcusable in this circumstance.

Multi-Tasking
You know what really grinds my gears?!?
I'm going to assume this lady wears the pants in the relationship. Either that, or her husband has NO idea she is reading. I wondered what would happen if she accidentally let go of that hardback book? It would probably strike the car behind them, possibly killing the driver by extreme paper cuts and causing a chain reaction accident at rush hour. Then, I started wondering if she was reading to her husband through those fancy walkie talkie's built into the helmets? That's when I gave up all hope and continued on my journey home.....
Someone who multi-tasks and puts everyone else in danger! Applying make-up while driving is NOT acceptable. Reading while driving is NOT acceptable. Texting while driving is NOT acceptable. Reading a book while riding on the back of a motorcycle is NOT acceptable.
| Taking a photo while driving should NOT be acceptable, but I had to. |
